<p>Justin Sun has been designated as the prime minister of the 'micronation' known as Liberland, a tiny area situated between Serbia and Croatia that claims independence despite lacking diplomatic recognition from any established country.</p>
<p>Liberland <a href="https://liberland.org/news/598-liberland-congress-election-results" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">declared</a> Sun's new position on Tuesday, following an election conducted via an ‘entirely algorithmic blockchain-based election system’.</p>
<p>This represents his second diplomatic position after previously serving as Grenada's ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO), a role he eventually lost.</p>
<p>Sun <a href="https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/tron-founder-justin-sun-elected-prime-minister-of-liberland/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stated</a> in an interview with DLNews that in Liberland, “There are no compulsory obligations, no taxes, and no mandates imposed on its inhabitants.” The self-proclaimed nation <a href="https://liberland.org/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">draws</a> inspiration from libertarian principles and the concept of “self-governance.”</p>

<p>The area under Sun's governance measures <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberland" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">approximately</a> 7 km², akin to the size of Gibraltar, and comprises a floodplain. It claims a population of 1,000 citizens, has limited infrastructure, and <strong>maintains 99% of its reserves in bitcoin</strong>. Legal frameworks are ongoing and they are working towards <a href="https://liberland.org/news/580-new-settlement-hub-is-being-built-in-liberland" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">constructing</a> a healthcare facility.</p>
<p>In 2015, its founder Vít Jedlička <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberland" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">asserted</a> a dispute between Serbia and Croatia to declare the territory unclaimed, thus available for occupation. However, despite these assertions, it hasn’t <a href="https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/tron-founder-justin-sun-elected-prime-minister-of-liberland/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gained</a> any recognition from any official government.</p>

Notably, Argentina’s president even <a href="https://youtu.be/SqsZhH3UaeU?si=9WyesYf_y2GPPRYj" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">commended</a> the micronation while wearing his superhero persona.</p>
<p><strong>The specific responsibilities Sun will handle as Prime Minister remain somewhat ambiguous</strong>. When questioned about the duties associated with the role, he <a href="https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/tron-founder-justin-sun-elected-prime-minister-of-liberland/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">informed</a> DLNews, “I aim to actively advocate for the concept of small government not just within Liberland but also as a model for the global community.”</p>
