The EOS Network has successfully executed its Spring 1.0 hard fork and unveiled the exSat mainnet, representing pivotal moments in its evolution. Important updates were shared during the Block Producer meeting in October.
The EOS Network has reached a major milestone following the successful execution of its Spring 1.0 hard fork, succeeded by the exSat mainnet launch. These advancements were the primary subjects during the recent EOS Block Producer (BP) monthly meeting, which saw the participation of key network stakeholders, including the EOS Network Foundation (ENF), EOS Labs, and Middleware, as reported by eosnetwork.com.
Meeting Highlights and Significant Discussions
On October 16, 2024, the meeting welcomed 19 Block Producers and a total of 30 attendees. Beatrice Wang, Communications Manager for ENF, opened the session by outlining the agenda, which included topics such as the hard fork, UTXO synchronization, and the launch of the exSat mainnet.
Spring 1.0 Hard Fork Success
Yves La Rose, CEO of ENF, emphasized the significance of the Spring 1.0 hard fork as an essential enhancement, introducing the new Savanna consensus algorithm. The transition was completed in less than 40 minutes, and despite the network experiencing its highest load to date, it demonstrated remarkable stability. The exSat team synchronized 840,000 Bitcoin blocks of UTXO data into RAM within 48 hours, providing a rigorous test for the network’s updated infrastructure.
exSat Mainnet Launch
The exSat mainnet has been successfully initiated, synchronizing Bitcoin blocks at a measured pace. With the initial stages underway, the emphasis is on significantly boosting the connected Bitcoin hashrate. This launch is intended to improve the network’s capacity and efficiency.
Integration with Greymass Middleware
Aaron Cox from Greymass shared updates regarding their Metamask integration initiatives, which will enable the management of EOS, EVM, and exSat accounts. The integration audit is complete, and the team is collaborating with Consensys to launch an EOS wallet Snap for Metamask.
Looking Towards the Future
As for upcoming developments, Yves La Rose addressed the Spring 2.0 roadmap that includes RAM enhancements and the creation of a decentralized wallet. Additionally, discussions are active concerning a possible EOS rebranding, with more updates anticipated in forthcoming meetings.
