The mining pool platform of Binance has revealed that it is now issuing rewards in a memecoin developed by Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin (DOGE).
According to Binance Pool, the new Bellscoin (BEL) merged mining feature has officially launched.
Users of the mining platform can now mine Litecoin and receive rewards in LTC, BEL, or DOGE.
Bellscoin, inspired by Animal Crossing, was created by Markus in 2013, just eight days before Dogecoin was launched, as stated on the project’s website. It was revived in 2023.
The Bellscoin website clarifies,
“Bells coin has no affiliation with ‘Animal Crossing’ from Nintendo. This coin is merely a tribute to a meme that we all cherish and recognize. Bells is a meme coin that holds no intrinsic value and offers no expectation of financial gain. There is no official team or roadmap. The coin serves no practical purpose and is intended solely for entertainment.”
Although offered as a mining incentive, Bellscoin is not currently available for trading on Binance.
At the time of writing, BEL is priced at $0.903. This crypto asset ranks 721st by market capitalization and has decreased by more than 5% in the last 24 hours.
DOGE is currently trading at $0.115 and ranks 9th in market cap, having dropped over 8.5% in the past day.
LTC is priced at $66.73 at the time of writing, ranking 25th by market cap and down nearly 4% in the last 24 hours.
