Users can link the app to Lightning nodes and wallets such as Alby Hub, Umbrel, Start9, LifPay, and CoinOS to facilitate self-custodial Lightning payments. The app integrates most seamlessly with Alby Hub, an open-source wallet that Alby has recently launched, making it easier to access and operate Lightning nodes across various devices. Alby Go also features a user-friendly wallet interface for Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC)-compatible Lightning wallets.
βAlby Go represents our ongoing commitment to making Bitcoin accessible everywhere, now putting it directly in users’ hands,β stated Alby co-founder Michael Bumann in a press release. βBy leveraging the NWC messaging protocol, we ensure effortless usage of multiple nodes and wallets within a lightweight application.”
Additional functionalities of Alby Go include a contact list for saving Lightning addresses of regular contacts for fast transactions; currency conversion options; and dark/light theme settings.
Currently in version 1.5, Alby encourages users to reach out to the Alby team with feedback on enhancing the app. The appβs source code is open-source, welcoming reviews and contributions.
