Uniswap to Incorporate Across’ Cross-Chain BridgeEstablishing the Framework for Asset-to-Asset Swaps

Uniswap Labs, the organization behind the prominent decentralized exchange Uniswap, has revealed the incorporation of a cross-chain swap bridge developed by Across, a comprehensive solution for cross-chain activities.

As per a press release shared with CryptoPotato, this forthcoming integration will permit users of the Uniswap Wallet and Uniswap Web App to exchange ether (ETH), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and stablecoins such as Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), and Dai (DAI) across nine Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks, including Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Base.

Uniswap to Incorporate Across’ Cross-Chain Bridge

The new feature from Uniswap will operate on Across’ intent-based bridging system, enabling users to define their preferred action in a singular transaction request. It simplifies cross-chain transactions by allowing Across to automatically bridge assets and interact with smart contracts “behind the scenes.” This method of cross-chain bridging mitigates risk for end users and enhances the ease of such transactions.

Hayden Adams, CEO of Uniswap Labs, stated:

“Although we’ve reaped benefits from Ethereum’s scaling advancements, this progress has also resulted in some fragmentation. This partnership enhances our mutual vision of establishing new benchmarks and fostering an optimal user experience for cross-chain swaps.”

Across’ intent-based bridging technology is also supported by the ERC-7683 token standard, unveiled earlier this year by the crypto organization and Uniswap Labs to improve cross-chain interoperability. This token standard consolidates cross-chain intents, allowing a universal filler network to manage transactions. It empowers developers to utilize the complete EVM ecosystem while concentrating on a single chain, eliminating the necessity for multiple layer-2 deployments.

While ERC-7683 is still in its initial stages, the token standard has received recognition from Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin.

Establishing the Framework for Asset-to-Asset Swaps

Uniswap has stated that it is adopting Across’s bridging solution to establish the foundation for swapping between any cryptocurrency assets.

Hart Lambur, co-founder and CEO of Across, asserted that intent-driven solutions are the only offerings that provide users with a two-second experience across layer-2 networks. They achieve an average three-second processing time for transactions under $10,000, which constitutes approximately 99% of all layer-2 bridging activities.

“It can ultimately make using hundreds of L2s feel like a cohesive ecosystem. I envision a future where effortless, one-click cross-chain transactions become commonplace,” Lambur added.

In the meantime, Uniswap has recently introduced its layer-2 network Unichain, constructed on the OP Stack as part of the Superchain initiative. Across will serve as the bridge for the chain once the mainnet is operational.
