A recent report from Helika highlights a rise in engagement with NFTs and extended player sessions within Telegram’s gaming environment during Q3 2024.
The report reveals a significant increase in unique wallets handling NFTs, jumping from 200,000 to over 1 million over the quarter, with 600,000 wallets participating in NFT transactions within games.
Players are also dedicating more time to Telegram games. The findings indicate that average session durations nearly doubled, climbing from 2.8 to 6.7 minutes, which implies that enhanced game design is effectively capturing user interest.
Geographic data suggests a notable change in Telegram’s gaming demographic compared to other Web3 platforms, with 55.91% of players originating from Europe, contrasting with Asia and Latin America, which have been traditional hubs for Web3 gaming.
Rising engagement in Telegram games
The report mentions that Catizen successfully executed its first airdrops, distributing 34% of its overall token allocation, including 150 million tokens distributed in September 2024 alone. This airdrop spurred increased activity, showcasing its integration with Telegram.
In September, Binance added Catizen to the Binance Launchpool, enabling users to farm the native token of the gaming bot in advance of its trading debut.
Similarly, Gamee saw a staggering 300% jump in volume and transactions month over month, indicating a surge in player engagement. X Empire drew in almost 48 million players, with 18 million linking their wallets to partake in the game’s features.
The report also states that Rocky Rabbit attracted 30 million players, while Banana reached 10 million users by October. Wonton surpassed 1 million users within just its first week.
Nonetheless, the report pointed out the challenges developers face as a plethora of new games fill the platform. Smaller development teams struggle with limited marketing resources and user acquisition. Developers are diversifying game genres and offering a broader array of experiences, including simulations, RPGs, and puzzles, which shows that Telegram’s gaming ecosystem is maturing beyond simple, casual games.
