The Sui Bridge has launched on Mainnet, facilitating native asset transfers between Ethereum and Sui, thereby promoting Web3 interoperability.
According to The Sui Blog, the Sui Bridge has officially gone live on Mainnet, creating a native linkage between Ethereum and Sui. This advancement represents a crucial step towards improved Web3 interoperability by enabling effortless asset transfers across two major ecosystems.
The Sui Bridge is designed to eliminate limitations in the decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape by allowing smooth movement of assets and data across various networks. By leveraging Sui’s unique object-oriented architecture along with its programmable transaction blocks, this bridge strengthens interoperability within its ecosystem.
Sui Bridge Assets
At present, Sui Bridge supports transfers of ETH and WETH between Ethereum and Sui, which ensures a secure and stable experience for users. It’s important to highlight that ETH transferred through Sui Bridge is different from that moved via other bridges like Wormhole. To enhance the user experience, applications on Sui will be updated to accurately represent these different asset types.
In the upcoming weeks, liquidity from WETH-USDC pools will start transitioning to the ETH-USDC pool, further embedding the assets within Sui’s ecosystem. Future updates are anticipated to broaden support for more assets and features.
How to Use Sui Bridge
Using the Sui Bridge web interface to transfer tokens is easy:
- Go to the Sui Bridge web interface.
- Connect both an Ethereum and a Sui wallet, or you can manually input the destination address.
- Choose a token, specify the amount, and approve the transaction. The interface might require token allowance authorization.
- Once you confirm the transaction, you will be directed to a page showing the transaction details. Transfers from Ethereum to Sui generally take about 10 minutes to complete.
After finalization on Ethereum, bridged tokens are typically sent directly to the recipient’s Sui address. However, in certain cases, a manual claim may be required.
Looking Ahead
The deployment of Sui Bridge on Mainnet marks the beginning of Sui’s wider ambition for interoperability. Additional asset support and innovative functionalities will be introduced in future updates to serve a broader variety of use cases.
Keep an eye out for more updates as Sui works towards enhancing its interoperability solutions, building upon the groundwork established by the Sui Bridge.
