- Mawari offers a decentralized content delivery network that empowers creators to deliver captivating immersive experiences to their audiences.
- As a leader in 3D streaming, Mawari holds three patents and has 11 pending, serving 40 clients, including notable names like KDDI, Netflix, and BMW.
Mawari Network, a groundbreaking DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network), is leading the way in next-generation spatial computing and has raised $10.8 million in a strategic funding round. This round was spearheaded by Anfield LTD, Borderless Capital, and 1kx, with participation from Accord Ventures, Animoca Brands Japan, Blockchange Ventures, Draper Dragon, iAngels, Mulana Ventures, Parami Investors, Samsung Next, and Waldo Holdings, along with notable angel investors Ivan Brightly, Joshua Frank, Pete Townsend, and Sean Carey.
With support from both web2 and web3 investors and operators, Mawari is leveraging its seven-year head start in streaming immersive experiences. The company aims to utilize DePIN for the rapid and cost-effective delivery of 3D content across global devices. Mawari facilitates real-time 3D content streaming to spatial computing devices, such as the Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Orion AR Glasses, by harnessing a worldwide GPU network and employing Web3 components to address the shortcomings of traditional centralized networks. Established in 2017, Mawari has launched the Mawari Network — a DePIN and the sole full-stack spatial computing platform delivering decentralized compute and storage resources that are optimized for AR/VR applications.
“Every time I see the innovative work Mawari is doing, I’m reminded of the incredible future that awaits in spatial computing,” said Sean Carey, Co-Founder of Helium and Partner at Borderless Capital. “Luis and his team have been methodically building real technological advancements over the last seven years, and their capabilities are nothing short of astounding.”
“Mawari is not only an early leader in spatial computing, but is also among the first new wave of successful Web2 businesses utilizing blockchain and decentralization to foster innovation, efficiency, and enhanced user experiences,” stated Christopher Heymann, Founding Partner at 1kx. “They recognize the immense potential of decentralized computing to transform content delivery, and we are excited to support them on this journey.”
Mawari intends to allocate the funds to explore new markets, enhance its Spatial Streaming SDK, and continue investing in R&D to maintain a competitive edge in decentralized spatial computing. The team also plans to expand its business development initiatives to connect with more clients and markets, aligning with the rising demand for spatial computing devices and applications in Asia and the Americas.
“Our mission has always been to deliver immersive experiences to a wider audience, and this investment will facilitate a more extensive community to collaborate in building the 3D Internet alongside us,” remarked Luis Oscar Ramirez, Founder & CEO of Mawari.
Mawari is a trailblazer in 3D streaming, boasting three granted patents and 11 in progress, while serving 40 clients including global giants like T-Mobile, Sapporo, KDDI, Netflix, and BMW. After initially bootstrapping with an average of $1.5 million in annual revenue, Mawari plans to conduct a node license sale in Q4 2024 to decentralize and expand its spatial computing network.
Mawari’s solution consists of two primary components: the Spatial Streaming SDK and the Mawari Network. The Spatial Streaming SDK is a comprehensive toolkit built for seamless integration with popular development platforms like Unity and Unreal Engine, empowering developers to focus on crafting engaging and innovative content rather than backend complexities.
The Mawari Network is a decentralized, GPU-based content delivery network optimized for spatial computing. It utilizes a globally distributed network of GPU nodes positioned strategically close to users, ensuring low latency and exceptional performance. This architecture facilitates efficient distribution and scaling of spatial content, providing seamless, high-quality experiences to users worldwide.
