[PRESS RELEASE – Los Altos, United States / California, September 26th, 2024]
- Mawari is a decentralized content delivery network that empowers creators to design immersive experiences that engage their audiences
- Mawari leads in 3D streaming with three patents awarded and 11 pending, serving 40 clients including KDDI, Netflix, and BMW
Mawari Network, a DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) at the forefront of next-gen spatial computing, has raised $10.8 million in a strategic funding round led by Anfield LTD, Borderless Capital, and 1kx. Joining these investors are Accord Ventures, Animoca Brands Japan, Blockchange Ventures, Draper Dragon, iAngels, Mulana Ventures, Parami Investors, Samsung Next, and Waldo Holdings, along with notable angel investors like Ivan Brightly, Joshua Frank, Pete Townsend, and Sean Carey.
Investors and stakeholders from both the web2 and web3 sectors are supporting Mawari’s seven-year technological advantage in streaming immersive experiences, alongside their ambitious aim to deploy DePIN to deliver 3D content swiftly and economically to devices worldwide. Mawari facilitates real-time 3D content streaming to spatial computing devices such as the Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Orion AR Glasses using a global GPU network, leveraging Web3 innovations like DePIN to mitigate the challenges faced by traditional centralized networks. Positioned to tackle a fundamental challenge in the spatial computing realm, once referred to as XR (eXtended Reality), Mawari is committed to providing scalable infrastructure for real-time 3D applications. Established in 2017, Mawari has introduced the Mawari Network — a DePIN and the sole full-stack spatial computing platform providing decentralized compute and storage resources specifically tailored for AR/VR experiences.
“Every time I observe what Mawari is developing, I’m reminded of the incredible future awaiting spatial computing,” Sean Carey, Helium Co-Founder and Partner at Borderless Capital remarked. “Luis and the team have been diligently creating groundbreaking technology over the past seven years and possess a suite of systems that are truly impressive.”
“Mawari stands as an early leader in spatial computing while also being among the first in a new generation of successful Web2 enterprises leveraging blockchain and decentralization to fuel innovation, enhance efficiency, and elevate user experience,” Christopher Heymann, Founding Partner at 1kx stated. “They grasp the immense potential of decentralized computing in shaping the future of content delivery, and we’re excited to support them on this journey.”
Mawari plans to utilize the raised funds to explore new markets. The team will continue to enhance its Spatial Streaming SDK while investing in R&D to maintain its competitive edge in decentralized spatial computing. Furthermore, Mawari will expand its business development initiatives to connect with more clients and markets, aligning with the rising adoption of spatial computing devices and programming in Asia and the Americas.
“Our goal has always been to make immersive experiences accessible to everyone, and this investment will enable a wider community to collaborate with us in building the 3D Internet,” said Luis Oscar Ramirez, Founder & CEO of Mawari.
Mawari is at the forefront of 3D streaming with three patents secured and 11 pending. It has 40 current clients, including internationally recognized brands like T-Mobile, Sapporo, KDDI, Netflix, and BMW. Initially bootstrapped with an annual revenue averaging $1.5 million, Mawari plans to execute a node license sale in Q4 of 2024 to decentralize and expand its spatial computing network.
Mawari’s solution includes two main components: the Spatial Streaming SDK and the Mawari Network. The Spatial Streaming SDK is a powerful toolkit intended for seamless integration with leading development environments such as Unity and Unreal Engine. It enables creators to focus on what they excel at—developing engaging and innovative content—without of the complexities associated with backend processes.
The Mawari Network, on the other hand, is a decentralized, GPU-driven content delivery network designed specifically for spatial computing. It utilizes a globally distributed network of GPU nodes, strategically positioned close to end-users to guarantee low latency and optimal performance. This architecture facilitates the efficient distribution and scaling of spatial content, providing users with seamless, high-quality experiences worldwide.
