Lightspark, an innovative company focused on Bitcoin Lightning Network payments, has revealed the introduction of Lightspark Extend, its latest offering that enables businesses to process immediate Lightning payments for eligible account holders across the United States.
With Lightspark Extend, users can integrate Universal Money Addresses (UMA) and Lightning-compatible wallets, exchanges, or bank accounts, creating a compliant and economical solution for payments around the clock. The platform is compatible with over 99% of U.S. banks that support real-time payments, allowing businesses to provide their clients with speedy, low-cost transactions directly to qualified recipients.
UMA, which operates in 120 countries, streamlines value transfer by employing a user-friendly address akin to an email, thus removing the necessity to recall complicated codes or passwords. The recent launch of Lightspark Extend in the U.S. enables recipients with real-time payments-enabled accounts to receive UMA-supported transactions via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
In the announcement, Lightspark also mentioned that businesses eager to leverage Lightspark Extend can register for a UMA address, connect their eligible accounts, and initiate payment reception through an onboarding process supported by Zero Hash, a regulated financial institution in the U.S.
The rollout of Lightspark Extend marks another significant advancement in enhancing the accessibility of instant, low-cost Bitcoin payments for businesses and consumers throughout the U.S., broadening the scope and functionalities of the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
Just last week, Lightspark declared that Coinbase users can now make Bitcoin transactions up to $10,000 instantly via the Lightning Network, thanks to their collaboration.
