A hacker who reportedly stole nearly $20 million in cryptocurrency from the US government has restored approximately $19 million to the compromised government account, as stated by blockchain investigator ZachXBT.

On Thursday, a wallet associated with US authorities was exploited, leading to the theft of around $20 million in cryptocurrency assets. This wallet was linked to assets previously confiscated from the notorious Bitfinex hack.
According to reports from the blockchain analytics company Arkham Intelligence, the stolen assets comprised various stablecoins like aUSDC, USDT, and USDC, along with Ethereum (ETH).
The hacker allegedly shifted the stolen funds to a new wallet and began laundering the proceeds through dubious transactions. Blockchain analysts observed that the assets were transferred from decentralized lending platforms such as Aave before being sent to the hacker’s wallet.
