This month, we have updates from two groups making significant strides in the Ethereum ecosystem!
Couger, dedicated to education and community engagement in Japan
While Couger specializes in AI, this may come as a surprise to many as a key player in Ethereum education! They have not only examined the synergy between Ethereum and AI but also tested a zero knowledge voting protocol. Their commitment to education and collaboration has flourished within Japan. Couger previously received a sponsorship in 2020 for their ETHTerakoya meetups alongside a variety of workshops and working groups. They have recently secured a second grant to further their ongoing projects, which include:
- An “ID x Voting x Blockchain” working group that unites corporate, legal, and technical experts to develop open standards and proofs of concept, with meeting notes available in Japanese and English
- Public workshop sharing insights from the IDxVoting working group: notes in Japanese and English, in addition to a complete video of the presentation (segmented into part 1 and part 2)
- A working group on eth2 that convened in November 2020: notes available in Japanese and English
- Upcoming community building initiatives aimed at students, enterprises, and raising general public awareness
Stay updated by visiting ethereum-terakoya.org for future events and meeting summaries. We eagerly anticipate the growth of these initiatives and are excited to continue supporting the expanding Ethereum ecosystem in Japan!
MetaCartel for supporting projects post-hackathon
The MetaCartel DAO is a collective of builders focused on accelerating the Ethereum ecosystem’s growth, especially at the application level. In 2020, MetaCartel concentrated on aiding hackathon participants to continue refining their software and decentralized applications after the hackathon concluded. ESP grant funds were allocated to the MetaCartel DAO to support post-hackathon initiatives, particularly for projects that emerged from the ETHOnline virtual hackathon.
In addition to mentorship for teams polishing their products and developing sustainable business models, MetaCartel DAO awarded small grants to several ETHOnline projects, including:
- Llama, a hub for crypto community treasuries
- Mindful, a platform for automating portfolio rebalancing and dollar cost averaging
- Overlay, a derivatives protocol that utilizes on-chain oracles for trading on data streams
