Do you find joy in tackling intriguing and demanding challenges? Are you eager to engage at the very foundation of the Ethereum protocol?
The Protocol Support Team (EF) is thrilled to announce that applications are now being accepted for the third cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (previously known as the Core Developer Apprenticeship Program (CDAP))!
With the Merge approaching (58750000000000000000000 ), Ethereum core developers are looking ahead to further advancements in the protocol and are seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to help build a more powerful and resilient Ethereum network.
Introducing the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship.
What is the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (EPF)?
The EPF is designed to onboard developers into the process behind protocol development. It presents an opportunity to deeply explore the protocol while collaborating closely with peers on similar learning paths as well as engaging with the core development community.
Core protocol development can be complex, yet it is captivating, challenging, and fulfilling. However, this field has significant barriers to entry. It demands a substantial understanding of the protocols themselves, an in-depth grasp of various engineering concepts, and strong written and verbal communication skills. The goal of this program is to create a smoother transition for overcoming these barriers and to offer initial support and mentorship, propelling you to work alongside core developers.

Previous Cohorts
The EPF has previously completed two successful cohorts. During this time, past participants have:
- Developed an alternative approach to documenting and specifying the Ethereum protocol.
- Investigated modifications or removal of the SELFDESTRUCT opcode
- Contributed to the development of ZKSync
- Constructed new peer-to-peer networks for the Portal Network.
- Created their own implementation of the EVM
- 10 alumni from the cohort are now employed full-time in core protocol development, with 5 others working in related sectors.
Make a Tangible Impact
Core protocol development is vital for nurturing and enhancing the multi-billion dollar Ethereum protocol; a protocol we believe will significantly contribute to a fairer and more just future for humanity. Are you ready to join us in creating an inspiring future?
