The ethereum.org Translation Program has been operational for more than two years, and we are thrilled to highlight a few milestones we’ve achieved since its launch, as well as share some of our future plans.
Since initiating this program in 2019, over 2,000 community members have participated, translating a cumulative total of 2.8 million words to date!
Thanks to this incredible effort, ethereum.org is now accessible in 37 different languages.
While English remains the primary language on the site (accounting for 88% of total page views), traffic to translated pages is also on the rise, having more than tripled compared to last year:
Here are some of the latest advancements we have made:
- In December 2020, we introduced content versions 2.0+. Thanks to our translators, 19 languages have already been updated to version 2.0 or higher.
- We have enriched our translator resources and refreshed all public references to the Translation Program. For details on how to get involved, check out the Translation Program page on our website.
- Our translator community has also contributed to translating the Ethereum Staking Launchpad, which launched earlier this year and is currently available in 17 languages.
- We recently established translation groups to facilitate better interaction among our translators and the ethereum.org team. There are currently ten translation groups active on our Discord server, with additional ones created upon request. Reach out to us on Discord if you wish to join!

New content versions
We have released new content versions, encompassing pages on ethereum.org that have been recently added or significantly revised.
In addition to uploading new material for our translators, we’ve also categorized the existing content versions into more detailed segments. This organization enables translators to tackle high-impact content, such as the homepage, in more manageable portions. As a result, contributors can achieve milestones more easily, and we can add translated content to the website more swiftly.

Looking ahead
As Q3 draws to a close, we’re already focusing on the next quarter and beyond.
Below, you’ll find some of our plans and proposed initiatives. We welcome community contributions, feedback, and ideas. If you wish to get involved or suggest areas for future focus, please reach out to us at translations@ethereum.org.
Scope
We are broadening the scope of the Translation Program to encompass content beyond ethereum.org, including other significant content from the Ethereum ecosystem.
Initially, we are exploring the possibility of translating key blog posts from the Ethereum Foundation blog.
Further details on this initiative will be shared on ethereum.org and through the ethereum.org Discord.

Translator recognition
Our achievements so far would not have been possible without our incredible translators, which is why we are looking into improved methods of acknowledging their effort.
One of the first initiatives is an expansion of our POAP program, where translators can claim various POAPs based on the word count they have translated this year.

In Q4 of this year, we plan to introduce translator leaderboards and an acknowledgment page on the Translation Program page, allowing us to highlight all our contributors on the site, as well as recognize some of our exceptional translators.
We will also consider issuing credentials and other forms of recognition for key contributors, so please share what you would find valuable!
Translation Program resources
Looking ahead, we plan to expand our translator resources to provide them with comprehensive information about participating in the program and utilizing Crowdin effectively.
This will streamline the onboarding process for new translators and supply our contributors with additional insights on translation conventions, terminology, and project-specific instructions, facilitating their work and enhancing the quality and consistency of translations.
In addition to resources for translators, we will develop documentation outlining the workflow and translation process to support other translation initiatives within the Ethereum ecosystem. Our goal is to compile a playbook detailing step-by-step guidelines for launching and managing a translation program, encouraging more Ethereum projects to implement internationalization support.
