Daniel Larimer, the mind behind EOS, BitShares, and Steemit, has made a prediction that a biblical apocalypse, particularly the one depicted in ‘Revelations’, is set to happen next week.
He specifically asserts that October 9 will be “the last great day” and has cautioned his followers to be “prepared for sudden destruction.”
This notion has been one Larimer has promoted recently, even releasing a YouTube video that seeks to clarify his prediction. However, he certainly isn’t the first to anticipate the end of the world. It’s a recurring theme so prevalent that there’s a dedicated Wikipedia page for it.

Larimer has also released a Biblical Tribulation Survival Guide subtitled ‘October 9, 2024.’ Key points in the document include:
- that God “has described the very dimensions and nature of the nuclear missiles launched from submarines,” which will lead to this destruction
- that “the tribulation commences with Nuclear World War III, during which a third of the world will be annihilated”
- that in 2029 we should be concerned about the “Apophis Asteroid,” with warnings that NASA could be misleading and that God could nudge it towards Earth if desired.
Nonetheless, all may not be lost. Larimer’s video suggests that “an occasional false alarm is preferable to failing to alert people to extraordinary activities in the stars.”
And when we eventually discover that this was yet another false alarm, it’s likely that Larimer will employ the same strategy as many before him — asserting he miscalculated and announcing a new date.
Of course, if by some chance Larimer is correct and we find ourselves under attack by “a lion, a bear, and a serpent,” we’ll do our best to inform you which blockchain withstands the test.
