It’s been a while, and we’ve got some exciting updates.

👋 It’s happening! 👋

After being restricted for the past few years, we’re thrilled to announce that Devcon 6 is scheduled for the first half of Q4-2022 in Bogota, Colombia. We understand how much Devcon means to everyone (including us!), and we can’t wait to share more details with you shortly (stay tuned!).

In the meantime, the Road to Devcon continues with another project that we’ve been working on recently.

Introducing something new

Devconnect is a week-long event in Amsterdam that will host various independent Ethereum activities, each with its unique focus. Our aim is to prioritize in-depth sessions rather than sheer numbers, encouraging the Ethereum community to engage in smaller groups for discussions, learning, or significant progress on specific topics.

Unlike a typical conference, we want this week-long event to promote the deep dive discussions and dialogues necessary for enhancing Ethereum. Each session during Devconnect will be moderated and designed by experts in those respective fields. The EF will support coordination, ensuring that experts and teams receive logistical and production assistance while minimizing overlap in similar subjects to keep builders focused.

Most importantly, we aim for Devconnect to be productive! For all gatherings and workshops, we expect audiences to consist of relevant experts or those genuinely interested in the topics being discussed.

For all those visiting and eager to connect and collaborate between sessions, we will provide a co-working space for anyone interested.

What can we accomplish with a build week?

Amid the new challenges facing the world and the opportunities that Ethereum is pursuing, this year the EF has opted for a different approach.

It’s heartening to see familiar significant events making a comeback — meanwhile, we’re developing Devconnect into something a bit more unique. Ideas for Devcon have evolved and transformed since our time in Osaka, and while pivotal events like Devcon remain central and impactful in our ecosystem, we hope this new type of gathering will serve as a complement, making a difference in novel ways.

When can we expect more information?

Keep an eye on Devconnect.org and @EFDevconnect on Twitter for updates on specific dates and locations soon, along with the EF blog.

And if you’re interested in hosting a Devconnect event, get in touch! We look forward to gathering in Amsterdam in April and Bogota later in 2022. See you all soon!
