A previously inactive bitcoin whale address was brought back to life earlier today, according to information from Arkham Intelligence, transferring 5 BTC to the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken.

This marks the third BTC transaction by this address in recent weeks after a decade of inactivity, as noted by the popular analytics platform.

Data from Arkham reveals that the wallet acquired its bitcoin during the early months of BTC’s existence, specifically between January and March 2009, following the network’s launch on January 3 of that year.

The whale executed multiple transactions involving their BTC between 2011 and 2014 to exchanges and other wallets before ceasing all transfers.

Notably, the value of this wallet’s holdings has soared from fewer than $500,000 in 2014 to around $80 million at current market prices.

The whale reemerged three weeks ago, completing three different transactions totaling 10 BTC. As per Arkham’s records, the wallet currently possesses 1,215 BTC, valued at approximately $77 million.

Arkham also highlighted another wallet that recently came back to life after 15 years of “complete silence.” This wallet also received funds during Bitcoin’s early days and had a stash worth $16 million (250 BTC) at that time.

CryptoPotato reported in early August about another dormant wallet that was active during the era of Satoshi Nakamoto. It accumulated 250 BTC in May 2010 and transferred the holdings to five new addresses last month.
