Axelar has launched the Mobius Development Stack, a technology aimed at simplifying the process of building decentralized applications that span multiple blockchains.
The company unveiled this new infrastructure in an Oct. 3 Blockworks article, enabling developers to seamlessly connect diverse blockchain networks such as Solana (SOL), Stellar (XLM), and XRP Ledger (XRP) without requiring bridges—software tools typically used to link different blockchains. This infrastructure is set to optimize developers’ workflows and enhance cross-chain functionalities.
Simplifying cross-chain connectivity
MDS works in conjunction with well-known OpenZeppelin libraries, utilized by developers to create robust smart contracts, and accommodates both on-chain and off-chain resources.
Off-chain resources may consist of AI or zero-knowledge (zk) co-processors, which perform functions externally to the blockchain while still interacting with it.
A notable component of Axelar’s new offering is the Interchain Amplifier. Backed by Axelar’s native token, AXL (AXL), and other assets such as Ether (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC), the Amplifier secures cross-chain connections.
Additionally, the Interchain Token Service facilitates the creation and transfer of native cross-chain tokens. This capability could enable developers to tokenize real-world assets or introduce novel use cases for liquidity and fractional ownership.
In essence, Axelar’s stack equips developers to create applications that function across multiple blockchain platforms, eliminating dependence on individual chains or cumbersome connection methods.
This technology is emblematic of a larger movement within Web3 to enhance the experiences of developers and end-users by providing more integrated infrastructure solutions.
