[PRESS RELEASE – San Francisco, California, September 16th, 2024]
The Graph Network has made significant enhancements to its support for the Solana network, building on its earlier integration. The developer community on Solana can now access improved data tools and several starting points for indexing Solana data, including pre-built solutions from recognized teams like Messari and Top Ledger.
This upgrade provides an enriched development experience for Substreams-powered subgraphs (SpS) with new code generation tools available for both remote and local use. Designed by StreamingFast, a key engineering team within The Graph ecosystem, the development environment offers utilities that assist developers in quickly creating an end-to-end Substreams project. This advancement translates to unparalleled flexibility in Solana development. For those familiar with Substreams, the new tools facilitate swift and seamless synchronization.
Developers can commence building on Solana using The Graph even without any prior knowledge of Substreams. The new tools also enable developers to access Solana data without needing to interact with Substreams or Rust, making it simpler for them to utilize the tools that align with their expertise and project needs.
Among the notable new features are the Solana Substreams modules innovated by Top Ledger and StreamingFast, alongside multiple Substreams and Substreams-powered subgraphs crafted by Messari. Developers will also benefit from several pre-built Substreams-powered subgraphs, including UNCX and Orca Whirlpool.
“The rapid increase in developer and user engagement on Solana has generated a substantial demand for open, decentralized data that aligns with web3 principles. The Graph’s latest tooling upgrades and improved support will ensure that the Solana community derives even greater value from the decentralized data layer of web3,” stated Nick Hansen, Head of Growth at The Graph Foundation.
Solana’s infrastructure, especially its swift transaction speeds and minimal fees, has established it as a favored platform for numerous decentralized applications (dapps) and decentralized finance (DeFi) initiatives. As the Solana ecosystem continues to expand at a remarkable pace, the need for effective data indexing and querying grows exponentially.
With enhanced support for Solana, The Graph equips developers with robust tools to efficiently construct decentralized applications (dapps) and analyze on-chain data. It now provides lower operational costs, a more efficient data source, and an upgraded programmable indexing stack that is easier to navigate, faster to index, and includes a historical cache of Solana blocks that are 25% of the size of a full block.
These updates align with The Graph’s mission to support a multi-chain future and promote interoperability across web3. The upgraded tools will be especially beneficial for Solana developers, data analysts utilizing Solana data, and the wider web3 community interested in data solutions.
The Graph Network remains dedicated to delivering a decentralized data network for web3 developers, featuring over 9,000 subgraphs. In June, it deprecated its free hosted service, transitioning to a decentralized network to empower developers and the broader web3 ecosystem through enhanced data autonomy and decentralization.
ABOUT THE GRAPH
The Graph serves as the primary source of data and information for the decentralized internet. As the pioneering decentralized data marketplace that introduced and standardized subgraphs, The Graph has emerged as the method for indexing and accessing blockchain data in web3. Since its inception in 2018, tens of thousands of developers have created subgraphs for dapps across more than 70 blockchains—these include Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Celo, Fantom, Gnosis, and Avalanche.
As the demand for data within web3 continues to escalate, The Graph enters a New Era with a broader vision that encompasses the introduction of new data services and query languages, ensuring the decentralized protocol can cater to any use case—both now and into the future.
