WHERE WE’RE SHOPPING: SLNT
If you’re anything like me (and you’ve been stacking Bitcoin tirelessly), you’ve likely sought ways to enhance your privacy.
I’ll admit, it’s a bit of a struggle for me. As someone who has maintained a public profile since writing their first article in Bitcoin back in 2013, I’ve had little choice—much of my personal information is out there, likely for eternity.
That being said, small improvements can make a significant difference (or so the saying goes). At least, they give me some comfort knowing that I’m safeguarding nearly all of my wealth with no one accountable but myself these days…
Anyway, one practical enhancement I’ve adopted is storing my Bitcoin hardware devices and seed materials in faraday bags, which repel radiation and block frequencies. I’m no expert, but I’ve been informed that this makes the devices more challenging to tamper with, and regarding additional measures, all that’s required is purchasing a suitable storage bag.
I received my first faraday bags for free with my Casa service (a multi-sig Bitcoin security provider that assists me in self-custody). (They provide free faraday bags from a fantastic producer called SLNT for new sign-ups, but I’ve bought a few more since then.)
This is what introduced me to this impressive privacy solution.
I’ve been in search of a new backpack, and I must admit, despite the hefty price tag of $1,000, the SLNT Submersible Faraday Backpack has certainly caught my eye.
Not only does it look quite stylish, but it also claims to keep your laptop (and other devices) protected in water up to 100 feet deep.
As someone who constantly worries about plane crashes, it’s quite tempting. Is this more protection than I need for my devices while on the move? Should I be concerned about solar flares and EMF radiation?
Maybe not, but considering we might be on the brink of World War III, that might be another reason to skip stacking and purchase this, right? I mean, isn’t this the type of gear a “bitcoin expert” should have?
I’ve asked Shinobi if he can create one out of Saran wrap, but sadly, even his considerable security skills fall short in this instance. Until then, I suppose I’ll be keeping this on my wishlist.
Because there has to be a valid reason for me not to buy this, right?
